Hi,

I just discovered my travel insurance doesn't cover my costs if I choose to cancel my trip because injury means the trip is pointless. I am physically fine to still travel there, I just can't participate in the activity.

It covers if I can no longer travel due to illness/injury, but just the fact that I can't do my chosen activity is not covered.

Is that common? Are there insurances that will pay out if you can't participate in the activities you hoped to do?

In reply to JuneBob:

I broke my leg last June before a planned Alps trip and got a full reimbursement.

Though i guess that might have been the level of injury, as in a broken leg makes flying very difficult. For something more minor, say finger injuries, it may be a lot harder to find coverage for that as you said, its not stopping you from going on holiday only from climbing. Maybe a sports insurance deal?
