Wartex
Salactol
Verrugon
Bazuka
Freezey stuff from chemists
Mechanical abrasion
Nitrogen via GP (3 attempts)

All failed.

I'm ready to voodoo, chanting etc. Anyone got an incantation that works?

I have an odious neighbour that would make a good candidate for wishing them onto if that helps?

In reply to iksander:

They're viral so they have to go of their own accord - or at least that's what I've been told by various medical bods.

In reply to iksander:

Banana skin, honestly! Tape a bit of banana skin (inside bit onto wart) each night when you go to bed. It will work.
 pebbles 30 Sep 2011
In reply to iksander: you need someone to buy them off you for a penny. So my granny said.

In reply to iksander: freezing off worked with mine. Plunge your arm into a vat of liquid CO2, and they'll fall off, guarranteed

In reply to iksander:

As Clare said, Warts are caused by a virus, they will eventually clear up on their own given enough time which is why there are so many people who swear by folk remedies along the lines of ‘I tried everything to get rid of my warts, they plagued me for years until I tried kissing a frog's arse at midnight when the moon was full and that cured them, so it's guaranteed to work.’ I've even heard one person suggest taping banana skins over them, how daft is that?!

In reply to iksander:

Freezing almost always works if it's done correctly. I used to have access to liquid nitrogen, which is excellent, but there's an aerosol system you can get at the chemist that works pretty well.

Your GP ought to have access to dry ice for doing it too.

There's a bit of knack, in that you need to be able to see a frozen ring around the wart itself (but you also need to take care not to over-do it and end up with frostbite!)
 Woo Lamont 30 Sep 2011
In reply to iksander: Dead obvious: rub a piece of meat on it, bury it under a stone, and as the meat rots, the wart will go away.
Seriously though, they disappear with time. When I was 15-16 I had loads on my hands, which made me very anxious and then one day they were all gone, and I never even noticed them going. I had tried everything (parents were GPs) and nothing worked until they just vanished. Be patient.

I've got one that's hung on for over eight years... blurgh! It's been frozen, dug out, dug out again, etc etc.

In reply to iksander: Dig it out with a scalpel then douse it in Salactol, worked for me!

In reply to iksander:

I have honestly used the banana skin method on a few occassions over the years & it has worked every single time on warts & verrucas.
Wonko The Sane 30 Sep 2011
In reply to EddInaBox: I've tried kissing a frog's arse. I don't have any warts but I see it as preventative.
 Trangia 30 Sep 2011
In reply to iksander:

I'm sure there is a treatment involving toads, virgins and a full moon.
 David Hooper 30 Sep 2011
In reply to iksander: i used to cut away at them with nail clippers
 EddInaBox 30 Sep 2011
In reply to Trangia:

That's why so many people have warts nowadays, it's not too hard to find a nice toad and full moons are as common as they always have been, but you're a better man than I if you can find yourself a genuine virgin!

In reply to Removed User: My quack wheeled out the blather about viruses, according to him there are 12 varieties which each take about a year for your immune system to get the better of, and hence most people are wart free by their mid teens.

I'm 41 and had my eldest wart for more than 15 years, I had another much smaller one (~2mm) which was apparently "dormant" for ten years but has blossomed into a full sized cauliflower job over the last 3 years.

I suspect that my immune system is knackered, or more likely - I've been hexed.
In reply to iksander: I tried freezing one with a product called Wartners Freeze Therapy which had previously been very affective on some verucas on the sole of my foot. It claims "removal in one application". I used all 12 doses to no affect on a small wart on my finger. Boots Veruca removal gel has been far more affective and a lot less expensive but has taken several weeks to gradually burn the wart away.

Are these genital warts?

Shame. Might have been quite pleasant popping John Thomas in a banana skin. Rather dashing.

OP iksander 30 Sep 2011
In reply to Turdus torquatus: Maybe that explains why there are none on the old feller? I could fashion some banana skin gloves though

Nescafe instant coffee. Mix it into a paste and apply to the wart. Works every time, well it's worked twice for me.

Did the meat thing...it worked within a couple of months. Worth a try, even if it is all in the mind.

Duct tape does work well.

Don't bother by skinning it off by falling off rollerblades...friend tried that and it grew back :/

In reply to iksander:

I've always been lead to believe that warts need to 'breathe' and most of the folk remedies seem to deprive the surface of the wart with access to good old-fashioned fresh air...

I had a few warts for over 4 years that went away once I'd covered them in layer of nail varnish, once a day for about a month. Could be coincidence, could be some truth in it! It's a little more pubic friendly than banana or rotting meat anyway.

In reply to iksander: As a kid I once removed one on the top of my granny's fridge when my attempts to cut a baking potato with a cheese cutter went a little wrong...

In reply to iksander:

My method as teenager was as follows:-

* try salactol - did naff all the the wart and seemed to melt the surrounding skin instead
* decide you don't want the wart any more and remove... this was done using my teeth
* wart removed, roots in all, remaining large hole bleeds quite a lot
* mother not impressed with teenagers work!
* wart doesn't return, result!
* 25+ years later small scar remains on thumb

In reply to iksander:

Try a silver nitrate pencil (Also called a caustic pencil. You can get them from old fashioned pharmacists.

They work, but can turn large expanses of your hands black if you're careless during application
