In reply to Dan Arkle:

If the rubber coated part rotates with respect to the mounting flange, I might say coat hook?

Otherwise I don’t think I want to know.

In reply to Dan Arkle:

If it was in your wardrobe could it be a trouser snake?

In reply to Dan Arkle:

Possibly a curtain tie-back, but maybe too big for that.

Part of a ‘trombone’…

In reply to Dan Arkle:

Sorry for the flippancy above. To me, it looks like a piece of tubular metal, bent into a kind of G shape and then coated in rubber.

ETA: IIRC, they usually come in pairs.

Edit number 2:  most people store them in a wardrobe.

It's the Bolivian Navy on manoeuvres in the South Pacific.

It’s an exceptionally badly designed snorkel.

Too big for that.

Just feel the need to pass comment on how white and unstained your mattress is. Mines is disgusting compared to that.

Thanks to Google image search. Though I'm still not sure quite what they achieve and how!

In reply to Dan Arkle:

Lol... Did it help...?

In reply to Dan Arkle:

That plate with the screw type things - not designed to be seen (wouldn’t have that angled top edge), the screw type fittings (bolts?) are offset, and if it was a screwed to the wall then G shape wouldn’t move. So it’s part of something. Perhaps part of an exercise machine?

In reply to john arran:

Yes that's them. Gold star.

I did try an image search but you obviously have the knack.

There were some other bits of an inversion table too. I think they help swing you upside down to help with back pain.

In reply to Dan Arkle:

I’d have got there eventually. (I’ve nowt else to do, stuck in bed with Covid).

In reply to Dan Arkle:

Trouble is, the pain reappears immediately when you re-invert, and you look pretty stupid using them in a Zoom meeting

You also look pretty stupid when you can’t flip back to upright and get stuck 😀
