UKC reporting this on Android/Chrome, starting this afternoon.

NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

Anyone else seeing this?

Are you on O2 mobile rather than WiFi or wired?

I think it was a O2 dns issue.

In reply to elsewhere:

WiFi. Airplane mode, so no chance of being on a mobile network.

In reply to captain paranoia:

Your own WiFi or a public/corporate network? The network might be trying to redirect you to a login page and accidentally breaking the secure connection.

In reply to Luke90:

Home network.

It's come back, though; Chrome did say, essentially, "try again later"...

In reply to captain paranoia:

I've been getting it for a couple of weeks when coming to forums through UKH which is the normal way for me.

So far the workaround for me has been to get to the forums through UKC.

In reply to captain paranoia:

oh, it's back again... was fine earlier this morning.

In reply to captain paranoia:

Is this just on UKC or UKH too?

In reply to captain paranoia:

click through to the advanced option to view certificate.  it should have an identifier that might tell you who is intercepting your traffic.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

I've been getting the problem intermittently on UKH for two weeks or so.

If I searched for UKC and went to the same pages via that route I wasn't getting the error until about the time this thread was posted but after that it has been happening to me on and off on both UKH and UKC.

Been fine on both for me last night and today.

I'm also using Chrome on Android, doesn't make a difference whether using mobile data or home wifi.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Seems to have stopped being a problem...

I don't access via UKH, so can't tell if that has been doing the same.

I did wonder if there was some timestamp involved, as it seemed to be okay early morning, fail during the day, then recover in the evening

In reply to Dave Baker SP5:

> click through to the advanced option to view certificate.

Think I did that, but don't recall seeing an obvious ID.

In reply to captain paranoia:

Here's my view with the good cert. What does the "issued by" say when you get the error?

What the error indicates is the SSL cert want issued by a trusted party.  The name of that party (which in this case is going to be self assigned) is the interesting bit.

In reply to Dave Baker SP5:

> What does the "issued by" say when you get the error?

Can't tell you, as it's not happened for a couple of days. I'll look out for it if it happens again.

Ironically, given your username, this can be an indication that your HTTPS connection is being intercepted  / proxied / man-in-the-middled.  Probably GCHQ.

In reply to Summit Else:

> Probably GCHQ.

Oh dear, did I say something beastly about Bowis...?

In reply to captain paranoia:

Famous last words; just did it again. But nothing useful under 'advanced'.

Something about ukclimbing.com using HSTS.

Take a screen shot next time.

There's usually someone interesting in there even if you don't recognize it at first.

In reply to Dave Baker SP5:

If you can find something interesting in this...

In reply to captain paranoia:

I did select both images...

In reply to captain paranoia:

Most likely an issue at your end, or your ISPs.  Likely culprits:  browser plug ins, VPNs, novel home network equipment, router etc, ISP interference.

In reply to Summit Else:

> Likely culprits:

> browser plug ins,

No plugins on this platform

> VPNs,

Not using a VPN

> novel home network equipment, router etc,

Nothing novel. No recent changes.

Since I have no problem accessing via PC on the same network, I suspect that means it's nothing to do with my ISP, either.

So I guess it's summit else...
