Anyone got any clever ways of carrying their camera on routes? Normally carry my compact stuffed in my fleece pocket but with this unseasonably hot sunny weather thats not an option.

Small krab plus some elastic cord which you can use to connect the camera to your pack or harness?
I do this with my camera in a case and it seems to work pretty well. The case remains clipped onto my pack or harness and the camera can be used without fear of dropping it as the elastic budget stops it going anyplace.
In reply to Fiona Reid: Just rigged up a bit of cord to hang it round my neck- thought i would probably end up sitting on it if i hung it off my harness! Think it is still very much a work in progress though.
