In reply to nolo: To climb 'a cheval' - which means to climb on horseback (can be quite useful when trying to reach distant starting holds).

In reply to nolo: Wow, second time I've been able to unleash this word today:

Morpho {not convinced it's 100% french, but it's in the french font guidebook} and it means "the grade is variable depending on height; the grade given is for a person of "ideal height" and other may find it considerable more difficult"

Most "morpho" probelms are easier for taller people, but there are some morhpos for shorties too!

This is french for 'risky'

Strange, because I overheard some French climbers talking about me as I was soloing in my mankini on the Roaches Lower Tier on a hot weekend a few weeks back - 'Ooh la la! C'est risqué, non?' - and I thought 'Good grief, you cowardly Froggies, it's only a V Diff!'

In reply to Removed User: cramponner is a french verb, 'cos I have seen it in Franch books about climbing, I thought it meant to grip on tightly, babelfish has it as "to stud" (quoi?).
