Obscure question perhaps, but would any regular's hazard a guess when the sun hits the Glyder Fach face at this time of year? I'm talking about the buttress containing Direst Route, Lot's Wife etc. The rockfax guidebook suggests it gets the evening sun, so from 5 onwards-ish?

Yep about that sort of time. It’s a great area to climb.

Don't like the sound of Direst Route.

Having recently done Direct Route, I think we were in the sunshine from around 4ish onwards.

The descent gullys can be pretty gopping wet and slippery. In retrospect, I think continuing on to the summit plateau and walking back down to the Tryfan-Glyder Fach col would've been a better descent than down climbing and then abseiling.

A brilliant place to climb at this time of year. Friction is superb and the setting is superb. Go there and do it. Done the Wife but still to tick the Groove.

A happy typo. Quite a good name actually.

That is the plan as long as the lads are up 4 it.

If you enjoy technical well-protected bridging I highly recommend Lots Groove. We did the groove pitch and escaped out on a vdiff the jamming pitch described in rockfax looked significantly more tricky!
