Congrats to the pair who exited from Lighthouse Arête (or thereabouts) yesterday. Doing your bit for access I see. T*ssers.

This one Lighthouse Arete (VS 4b)?

I count over twenty logged ascents this month.

The one at Castell Helen? That doesn't have a bird ban according to the RAD?

Have you been caught out by the section of RAD that the UKC logbook links to? Gogarth South Stack is all one crag on UKC, linking to a single RAD entry (which happens to be for Mousetrap Zawn, which is currently bird banned). But RAD's entry for Castell Helen (linked above) is separate, and very clear that it's not banned. This fairly regularly causes confusion, but is a pretty tricky one for either UKC or the BMC to solve. I do wonder whether UKC could add a bit of a disclaimer to their links that it's worth double checking on RAD itself rather than just trusting the link to match up exactly. Or for more effort they could let individual chunks of a crag be linked to different RAD entries.

But ultimately it's on us to check our info, especially before calling other people out.

Cheers - thanks for this. You’re right of course, and have just checked the guide. Apologies then to the two wrongly singled out…and all I can say further is that it must’ve been baking on the cliff (it was over 30 up on top!). Great effort & again, apologies.

It's great you have apologised...but did you consider saying something at the time.

"Hi...sorry to bother you, but are you sure this isn't bird banned?"

"Yes - only Mousetrap; here, look at the RAD"

"Oh I see.  Thanks.  Have a nice day!"

The team I saw emerged as I was getting back to my car at CH car park. So, they were some way away and disappeared quickly (hopefully to the pub for much needed hydration). Anyway, as I’ve publicly said, apologies to them (and belatedly for my uncouth language). I hope they had a grand time.
