It's forecast to rain next week and I'm just fed up and want to go out climbing whenever the hell I feel like it and not wait around facing reality like some kind of well put together person so if you could kindly tell me in list format where all the dry spots are and the secret little climbs that are immune to the weather are I'd be very grateful.

Peak District areas are what I'm looking for but anywhere you fancy talking about is just fine!

Thanks!

In reply to blacksquar: None, but you have a better chance in the Eastern Peak, it's in the rain shadow area.

I guess New Mills Tor is pretty much the only place. I've never been but I've heard it's OK. Ish.

West Window Climb, Thor's Cave will be dry except for the last few feet.
Bouldeing at Rubicon though the path might be flooded or muddy.

Might be wanting to join you!

In reply to blacksquar: Rubicon, Stoney Middleton, Raven Tor, New Mills Tors, far right hand end of Willersley. Not immune but worth checking out rather than heading to the wall...

i agree with james with Stoney, minus ten wall is rarely wet, although you will have to either boulder or struggle up the route minus ten itself, best of luck

The Churnet is also a good bet, rainproof bouldering at wrights rock, and very good

If the weather is coming from the West (as is typical), then the Eastern Crags may be dryer. Also, South East will generally be dryer than North East. Avoid Dove or /manifold as that area seems to be a lot wetter in my experience.

Not mentioned yet: The cave at Shining Cliff has 3 routes. The aid routes in Thor's cave and Dove Holes are always reliable. Some parts of Turning Stone can stay dry if the weather is out of the west. Think is though next week doesn't look too bad as far as this summer has gone so far.

I used to live in New Mills, it is possible to climb some of the routes at certains states of rain, generally depends on/and or seepage. But a visit can usually be saved by climbing on the viaduct.

In reply to blacksquar: Better to think fast drying, rather than immune to rain. Look for breezy, west facing crags - much of the eastern grit is climbable very quickly after the rain stops
