I notice Astral Stroll has had a few DWS ascents and was wondering if anyone who has done it as DWS at high tide could suggest a S grade. How high roughly is the final pitch above the sea at high tide? I'm asking for a friend obviously.....

Is mentioned it can be done at S2 6a in CC guidebook. I imagine the hard moves on P3 would feel pretty spicy and P4 would well into proper soloing territory.

P4 is quite high but if i remember the hard moves on this pitch are near the start. f5b S2/3 for this pitch i reckon. For pitch 1 to 3 theres a few spots where you'd want to fall in the right direction and gets a little high f6a S1/2 imo. Assuming high tide here. Ive not soloed it, but if im at gurnards head on the right day id be keen.

Ha - this reminds me of one of my favourite climbing memories, an ascent of AS with a rather overconfident US visitor and semi-professional photographer . When the time came for him to second the first pitch he handed his expensive camera to a bystander, fortunately as it turned out, with words along the lines of, ‘this first move looks way gnarly, dude, can you take a photograph of me on it?’, stepped down on to the traverse, missed his footing and fell 30’ or so into the sea. The bystander, showing great presence of mind, took a photograph of the waters closing over our hero’s head, bald patch and all. I saw it once, but never got to keep a copy, sadly.
