Hey All,

Just a quick one. I was planning on climbing at Tremadog on Monday for the first time. Just wondering on what ropes we will need!

Are half ropes a must? (I'm used to climbing on a single rope on single pitch). I was planning on taking my 80m triple and either using it as a single or halfs. My other half has a 70m triple but has lent it to one of her mates so thats a no-go.

I'm guessing we'll be fine with my 80m triple, just after a nod that its ok i guess.

Thanks all!

(Sorry if i've stuck this in the wrong area)

Singles are fine if you pick a straight route, of which there are many. Failing that, fold your triple in half, tie into both ends and use it as you would two 40 m halfs - that will get you up virtually every pitch at Tremadog; I can't think of any over 40 m that are compulsory (for example, The Plum (E1 5b) can be done in one pitch with long enough ropes, but in your case you could take the belay).

Abseils off the top of Bwlch y Moch are usually 50m so you may have to walk off. You can make 2 ab's down grim wall though.
