What?! Who invaded?! What is the UK response?! Surely we didn't just relinquish sovereignty instantly.... are you sure your information is correct?

In reply to Toerag:

An 18m tall (albeit outdoor) wall is newsworthy?

Especially as Ratho is as good as being outdoors.

“We've created a truly world-class destination for climbers of all levels, from beginners to elite athletes. There's nowhere else in the country that combines this scale and variety of climbing”

Hmmm, apparently Pembroke is irrelevant now

The towers at Blackpool are 20m tall?

 JLS 04 Aug 2025
In reply to joe.91:

So it would appear…

In reply to JLS:

A wall that you can climb is not the same thing as a climbing wall though surely?!

 JLS 04 Aug 2025
In reply to Iamgregp:

 Semantics, semantics.

In reply to JLS:

Ha!

In reply to Toerag:

£18.50 for a climb (£16 for bouldering) is on the steep side.

There's a pun in there somewhere.

Stockport is 22m at its highest, Manchester is/was 20m and Kendal 18.5.

Given that a major wall in a big city like Manchester had to close I imagine it' will be pushed to make it somewhere between Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Are any of these outdoors? As pointed out earlier, glamping under canvas at tall Ratho is practically outdoors…

In reply to Bulls Crack:

Isn't Kendal 25mtrs?

It is often colder than outside too! (Or at least feels that way)

In reply to ExiledScot:

There's a 36m high outdoor wall in Brighouse although it says 'currently closed'.

Having just visited 270, there’s a lot there, it’s well set and worth a visit if you are passing- and it’s got a good cafe!

In reply to KP_3030:

Yes still closed. Climbed it once, the top section felt very insubstantial!

Been today. Climbed mainly on the outside main wall because of the novelty factor and it was a sunny day so nice to be outdoors. The routes were very well set, grades a bit soft. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Yes it's not cheap, but they have spent £7m, it's an impressive facility.

Looks great, would've been better if they put some walls up around it mind; bit drafty on those winter nights.
