Getting close now, I'm in for the 100 after doing the 50 last year. Feeling like weekly mileage and elevation wasn't quite where I planned it to be but life got in the way. Have done a few flattish 100s before so know the distance but this will be new for me.

Have done at least a marathon most months as long runs, a hilly 50 and some 50ks and done all the organised recces so hopefully with a bit of luck, a tail wind and some grit and determination I can get this done.

Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.

I’m in for the 100 too which I’ve not done before but have done some longer stuff.

The overarching thing I’m telling myself is start slow! I’ve done a pacing chart so I know if I’m way ahead or behind at each checkpoint and can adjust accordingly.

Other thing is keep checkpoints faff to a minimum. Unless I really need to stop, my plan is to refill water, stick some food in a plastic bag and eat on the move.

Good luck with it - early forecast is looking good so fingers crossed 🤞

What sort of time you aiming for? I just want a finish but going to start off with a 38 hour schedule and see what happens after Dalemain. I’m not a fan of death marching the second half of these things but if needs must.

I’m very much no faff at checkpoints like yourself usually only stop at a one for longer if I can help it and go straight through the others with a plastic bag filled up with goodies and walk for half a mile eating but I think I’ll be stopping at Buttermere, dalemain and maybe Ambleside for slightly extended stops, change socks, get some more substantial food etc but still only 15 mins ish. In others I’ve got terrible blisters in the latter half and had to spend a good while sorting them out so I’m keen to try and avoid that.

weather looks decent at the minute but trying not to get my hopes up too much..

I would have said don't faff and make sure to look after your feet, but you've already covered that, so I'll offer stay on top of hydration (but you know that!).

Anyway, I'll see you there. I'll no doubt be near the back as my feet are still recovering from the Spine last month.

Good luck and enjoy...

Hope it went well. We may have seen you. We went up to cheer on a friend doing the 100 and walked from Ambleside to Troutbeck against the flow of the race late afternoon, early evening on Saturday.

Got it done and had a savage time but am looking back fondly. Took 39 hours in the end with quite a bit of dawdling and pretty much a full on death march for the last 40 miles. Went through Ambleside at 1am on the Sunday so not sure I would have seen you haha.

Will be signing up for the ballot again. Amazing event pushed me right to the limit.
