Taking my 10 yr old to meet friends in N Wales and want to do some climbing with him on Saturday. He climbs well indoors and we've top-roped a few single pitches in Lakes where we live, but can anyone recommend a crag - probably single pitch where we could maintain eye contact so I can offer advice if he has problems getting gear out on the second?

I'm only really familiar with Dinas Cromlech, Dinas Mot, Carreg Wastad, Tremadog, Gogarth

Thanks in advance

Depends what sort of grades he enjoys.  Tremadog upper tier has a few things in the Severe range.  If easier, just outside Llanberis (towards the south-west end of the lake) is union rock (craig yr undeb) with some lovely routes on it.  You could also have a look at craig caseg fraith isaf, with some really nice, steeper lines.

Craig Y Tonnau

Barmouth Slabs

Holyhead Mountain

Tryfan Fach (60m rope for it to be single pitch IIRC)

As already mentioned, upper tier at Craig Pant Ifan (Tremadog)
