Evening!

I’m looking for recommendations on where to learn to tie in/belay in or around Manchester.

I noticed Parthian offers a three-part course, which looks pretty good – so that could be an option. Has anyone taken it, or have any other recommendations?

For context, I’m 32, I’ve been climbing (mostly bouldering) indoors and outdoors for a few years, but I’ve never learned to belay. Most of the people I have and currently boulder with just don’t really fancy it.

I’ve also been thinking about joining a club to meet like-minded people to climb and get out into the mountains with. But I figured it’d be helpful to have some belaying experience under my belt first, so I’m keen to fill that gap.

I’m based in Rossendale but I’m often in and around Greater Manchester for work and family, so any recommendations would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Parthion is a good choice. Any wall with ropes routes rather than just boulders will do a course to teach you how to tie in and to belay. Most clubs will have the ability to do that as a minimum ability needed to join.

Thanks for that!

I might try and book on with Parthian later this week unless I come across any other rave recommendations.

Regarding clubs - yeah that generally seems to be the case and I can understand why.

Thanks again!

I guess just to add, on the off chance that someone else is in a similar situation and is thinking of doing the same around Manchester but wants some company, feel free to drop me a message!

Parthian  is good, however, from Rossendale, you will probably find Awesome Walls at Stockport, quicker and easier to get to.
