I think grading a route 9a/b is very confusing. In my opinion it's either one or the other or average it to 9a+.

In reply to ramon marin martinez:

Well he didn't grade it 9a/b he just said it was a level harder than an old 9a he'd done. Maybe 9a+/b might be more appropriate but it's all just speculation....it's not that uncommon for new cutting edge routes to be given a split grade, since the climber has usually never done anything of this level before and it really needs repeats to give it a more stable grade.

Thank god for that, was really starting to get to me, cheers

In reply to UKC News: arghhhhhh! That video contains all of the cliches that make the vast majority of climbing films soooooooo tedious. Heavy metal guitar music, slow motion dino's, repeated slow motion dino's, zooming in on dino's. Yes the dino is impressive, but don't play it multiple times in slow motion ESPECIALLY if you don't have a camera with a really fast frame rate so it looks smooth (ie opening of Magic Numbers from Psyche - Posing Productions).
GRRRRRRRR! M

Exactly what I was thinking. How can I set the sat nav to head over for a quick repeat if I don't know where it is?!

Yes, terrible video. Climbing should be about grace, not heavy metal!

Agreed, Have you seen his other videos?

Somewhere dark and dingy by the looks. Its not his local stomping ground is it (I remember him mentioning some projects in an article / interview a while back - probably linked via UKC) ?

No - apart from a short sequence on Akira. Amazing footless stuff - he just seemed to be campussing forever...

Didn't know there were other videos. Thanks for telling me. Will have a look on the net later.

The dino only replayed twice and from two different a logical angles. I thought it worked quite well.

As for the music, its rare that everyone is happy but I for one have no problem with rock as a backdrop for climbing.

Genius. I like hard rock, a bit rough around the edges
