I got a 20% discount voucher through from Gooutdoors today, and as I've been thinking of getting a bouldering mat I thought I'd see what they have got:

metolius stomp ~ £95
BD impact ~ £100
BD dropzone ~£115
Metolius bailout ~ £104

those are the prices less the 20%, so what would you recommend, or should I get an alpkit?

I would go for the biggest one, which I think is the Dropzone. I haven't used the alpkit mats, but I know the BD mats a great

I second the size issue. Personally I would get a second hand one and spend the money on something else. Also do you prefer a folding hinge or taco? Think the drop zone is a taco.

In reply to gibwarrior1988:

I get the impression that the taco style isn't great for the longevity of the mat, that said I suppose it is fairly academic as long as I dont store it folded

Thanks everyone for the replies

I'm selling a pair of alpkit mats I have used literally only once and are as good as new.
