I'm heading out for a couple of weeks boarding and thinking about throwing in the winter tools as well. Does anyone have any idea about conditions on the lower valley stuff, especially around Argentiere - La Cremmerie etc.

I'm guessing it's not good but need to start making some insurance and kit decisions.

Cheers.

a quick look on camp to camp suggests not much is being done under 1900m.

I heard the Cremmerie was not in when I was out up to the 10th Jan, although its been a lot colder since.

In reply to Martin S-P: It is now very cold and set to stay that way for at least a few days.

Conditions at the Cremerie are not great but there are bits of climbing to be done there. The icefalls on rive gauche of the Argentiere glacier are in good condition though, Mini Couloir, Deferlante, etc (these are accessed from the Grands Montets mid station-Lognan). Hope that helps, Jon Bracey
