I'm not convinced he'll be any use at all. Mediocre manager at best, pretty dire pundit but I suppose the only one wanting to take the job on!

In reply to Denni: Other than his time at Celtic, his managerial record is awful.

In reply to drunken monkey:

Does that really count though? If you got a job at Rangers or Celtic it is a pretty safe bet that you'll win the SPL at some point. Obviously not for a couple of years if you're a Gers fan...

Scottish Premier League winner: 2005–06, 2006–07 and 2007–08
Scottish Cup winner: 2007
Scottish League Cup winner: 2006, 2009

and FA cup runners up when he was at Southampton

In reply to Denni:

Getting to the last 16 of the champions league twice with a scottish side was a pretty good achievement.

In reply to Denni: Aye, but if you dont get instant success then yer out the door.

Its a lazy appointment by the SFA. However, should we really be surprised?

In reply to drunken monkey:

As you said, a lazy appointment. I'm not sure who, apart from a list of ex Scottish players, would actually want the job these days.

And no, shouldn't be surprised!
