Can anyone recommend some family friendly crags in or around Samoens in France between Morzine and Chamonix? We have 2 boys aged 5, and 3 so are looking for somewhere they can run around and or climb. Also recommendations for via ferrata would be appreciated, many thanks, Kev.

Just up the road from Samoëns, before Sixt, there's the Gorge des Tines. There are a few crags here, but the Rocher Hubert Ducroz would be good. http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=4005 There's a via ferrata just on the opposite site of the road too.

There's also the Grande Falaise to the left if you want something a bit harder.

Hi Jon,
many thanks for that, Rocher Hubert Ducroz sounds like a good place as any to kick off. looks very similar to Servoz near Cham.
Cheers,
Kev.

In reply to Kev Turner: the lower crag at La Frasse is ok for kids. It is close to Saint Sigismond just outside Arâches. topo here

In reply to Kev Turner: another child friendly little crag is Le rocher blanc, plaine joux - details below. Amazing views of the Mont Blanc range etc from the plateau. I live just below in Onnion where there is an excellent outdoor pool, perfect too for kids, open daily July and August.

Hi all,
thanks for the great feedback, I am sure that will give us plenty to go at especially with the outdoor pool. We will also do a bit of cycling with the boys and some walking. I also plan to cycle over the col de joux plane as it sometimes features in the Tour and it would be rude not to as it starts almost out of the back of our apartment,
Cheers,
Kev.
