Does anyone know how much snow there is high up in the Julian Alps at the moment? I'm heading out in a couple of weeks, and am trying to work out which routes would be sensible without carrying axe and crampons.

I'm particularly interested in the Plemenice/Bamburg route on Triglav & the traverse of Dovski Kriz.

Here is some current info about Plemenice/Bamberg route: http://hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=763
Looks like good/reasonable conditions.

Do consider that there was a lot of snowfall this year and there is still plenty left higher up. Dovški Križ routes are AFIK all unmarked with no VF cables etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. I think I will pack a walking axe and crampons then. I will be taking ropes and some trad gear, so the lack of cabling on Dovski Kriz shouldn't be a problem provided the ridge is reasonably clear.

Do you know if "Bivak 2" is left unlocked? If not then who should I approach to obtain a key?

Bivak 2 should be left unlocked. It is run by PD Jesenice, so it might be worth checking with them: http://pdjeseniceeng.blogspot.com/p/home.html.
