I have learned that this is allowed - below 2880mASL. So how far up can I camp relative to the top of the gondola station??

We are aiming to attempt Matterhorn's Hornli Ridge route but are put off by the new hut fees - CHF150.

Thank you in advance!

Only one I've heard of is by the train station (Zermatt).

Regarding camping on your own, I've no idea what the rules are - I used the huts when I did the Hornili.

Hopefully someone else will come up with more useful info.

Wild camping is officially not allowed anywhere in the Zermatt area.

But you might get away with very discreet overnight bivvies.

Hi Graham
what about staying at one of the hotels at Schwarzsee? I know this adds on about an hour and half in the morning but it does mean you dont have to race down for the last lift
