Dropped into Hedbury today on a family walk to give my four year old the chance to top-rope the easy bolted routes there (also had a personal agenda to log 3 more routes for the year to make a round 200).
So I soloed Very Ordinary Route (2a), Another Contribution (2a) & Sea View (3a) (trailing a rope to ab off and leave top rope in place).
Main point of the post is to warn about loose rock on Sea View, there is a wobbly large (breeze block?) chunk that forms the central section of a juggy rail below the final bolt, it is very tempting to grab at and is an accident waiting to happen, made for a nervy solo.
The new lower off chains are welcome though, big improvement on the bent cow horn affairs. Had a look at New Age, New Style (5c) which seems to now have a lower off mid way up the slab as well as a high lower off - the upper section of this route looks less stable than I recall, perhaps the reason for the lower chain? If anyone could shed light that would be great.
