Wonderful weather in the north-west for the past week with almost unbroken sunshine and frost every night. No more snow has fallen since Sunday 5th so conditions are pretty thin - as you can tell from the paucity of routes recorded in the reports section . Getting much milder unfortunately from this Wednesday and next week is looking wet and mild. Chance of more snow again towards the end of February but looks like conditions in this area will be back to square 1 by then.
Beinn Eighe was pretty bare on Sat, nothing complete on the Eastern Ramparts or Far East Wall (may be Vishnu but the ice looked pretty thin). East and West Buttress ok and both got done. Pelican looked reasonably wintery. Central Buttress not in. Stunning day though.
Yes - I was over at Sgurr nan Clach Geala on Saturday. More snow in the Fannichs than Torridon but Geala buttresses are quite black, with some ice and all the gullies discontinuous - but a lovely day to be out.
We were on the same hill then. It was a lovely day to be out.
On Friday Nw facing corries on An Teallach did have snow on them but nothing looked frozen.
If anything things are more icy and consolidated lower down.
Before it snowed on 4/5 February the hills up here were completely bare, so no old snow base left- hence very little consolidated snow to be found this past week.
Misha, nice to meet you on friday evening and many thanks for the conditions info on Beinn Eighe. Glad to see you got something done on the way back south, sounds like a great route!
