We've been to Chamonix/Annecy area, then onto Ventoux area in the camper for the last four years, sometimes including Briancon. Looking for somewhere new that ticks the boxes for sunny sport climbing and great riding. Ideas welcome.

No much climbing (there is some) but the Bourd d'Oisans area is superb for road cycling....

Though 'I-would-say-that-wouldn't-I?', Ariège would certainly be worth looking at. Plenty of TdF cols around here, relatively little in the way of traffic on minor roads, and more good climbing than you can shake several sticks at in a very compact area.

Ardeche/Cevennes? No monster cols in the Cevennes, but beautiful scenery & quiet roads.

Drôme / southern part of Vercors has nice cols with very little traffic ( col de Menée , col de Grimone ..)

Another vote for the Pyrenees, great cycling and great climbing. Ariege is fanastic.
