Froome crashes out early, Thomas becomes team leader and gets a podium place

Individual TT seems a bit of a boring start. Still remember the 1st day in Yorkshire and the sprint finish which was a belter!

I'm just hoping for a good close battle at the top...bit undecided who to root for...probably the old columbian

I believe that's what Froome likes

In reply to abr1966:

Froome
Bardet
Quintana

Richie Porte is on fire at the minute - and he doesn't even make your podium?
 Yanis Nayu 30 Jun 2017
In reply to ianstevens:

It was between him and Quintana for third. Bardet is a bit of a romantic's choice but he came second last year. Quintana's got a better GT record than Porte, although he doesn't seem to fire on all 12 at the Tour I don't think.

It's open though, isn't it?
 abr1966 30 Jun 2017
In reply to Yanis Nayu:

I reckon Froome won't be in yellow till week 3 but will ride in to top form....Porte in yellow for a few days mid-race and it'll be down to the columbian and Froome with not much in it....G could be the game changer to keep Froome in it as long as he doesn't fall off first week!

thinks I'll give it a miss this year with Brexit and wait for something a bit less european.

Looking at the stages briefly, I think I can say that Sagan might win green.

I don't think there's much doubt if he stays up right.

I'd like to see Cav get a couple of stages

Controversial...

You've already missed the Tour de Yorkshire

In reply to elsewhere:

1 Porte
2 Valverde
3 Aru

Hope Cav can somehow win a stage from the multiple opertunities but he's up against it.
Expect a Dan McLay will get at least one win.
Would be good to see Geraint up there in GC in the last week.
A Cummings stage would be awesome.

In reply to JLS:

G has just gone fastest.
 JLS 01 Jul 2017
In reply to Yanis Nayu:

I think he could be the Sky man. Froome isn't at his best and picking up the required form enroute isn't something he's ever done before.

 JLS 01 Jul 2017
In reply to Yanis Nayu:

Oh well so much for my prediction.

Massive crash for Valverde(

Ouch, that looked really painful! Doubly so since I put him into my fantasy TDF team this morning

I thought Marcel Kittel was a sprinter!
 Yanis Nayu 01 Jul 2017
In reply to elsewhere:

He started as a time trialist I believe, unless I'm mixing him up with someone else. And it was only 9 miles.
 Yanis Nayu 01 Jul 2017
In reply to climbingpixie:

Yep, gruesome.
 ablackett 01 Jul 2017
In reply to elsewhere:

Froome,
Porte
Thomas

Porte does look in amazing form, I can see him winning a few of the mountain stages, but can't see him stringing it together for 3 straight weeks.

All G has to do now is support Froome and then drop off for the last few km of the summit finish and he will be close to the podium. With all the downhill finishes he will have a good shot of staying up there.
