NEWS: Portland Path Work Assisted by Rockfax

On the weekend of 2nd and 3rd September, a team of volunteers, ably marshalled by Marti Hallett, made some great progress on the big job of creating a new and safe approach path to Battleship Main on Portland.

In an interesting collaboration, the funds used for this path restoration have had significant support from Rockfax donations coming directly from the Dorset Bouldering book.

It's quite something, Derek. I doubt you'll be disappointed. And Marti's talking about making it even better. (I think he was really impressed with my suggestion of lining it with garden gnomes.)

Last Friday, after we'd all been rained off (yet again) I finally plucked up the courage to ask him how on earth he'd conceived it. He looked at me witheringly and said, "Well, I'm practical..."

Ouch!! Still think he's impressed with the garden gnome idea.
