Any climbing on Madeira? Some sizeable sea cliffs....

In reply to Greenbanks:

Dunno, but the mountain biking is well regarded.

I went there on a family holiday years ago but didn't do any climbing; most of the rock on the northern coast line looked pretty loose and chossy so I don't know how good it is.

so is just walking, the levada walks are superb

I didn’t sniff out any climbing though, I wasn’t looking specifically but you know how it is when a cliff comes into view, your eyes search for signs

Not a lot, but there is something. I remember seeing some bolted lines on a black cliff at the side of the beach at Ribeira Brava.

broadly the rock is very loose and shatters easily. I suppose you could call it 'adventure climbing'!

I haven't actually been but about 10 years ago (when I was also climbing most frequently) I was supposed to be going on a family holiday so I looked into it.
