Im keeping my eye on forums and the latest reports from the Alpine club which i think just translate the latest Chamoniarde updates to get as much info as i can on how things are looking.

One of the potential routes id like to climb is the Swiss route which in the latest AC club report is not looking well formed.

For anyone more experienced in alpine conditions, how quickly do things change? In Scotland something can go from non existent to in prime condition and gone again within the week depending on the weather patters.

How about in the Alps? Does the same thing hold true if the mountain is going through freeze thaw cycles or is it the case that a big snow/ice route for instance the Swiss on Les Courtes takes the right build up over the course of the season, and if its not looking well formed by now chances are it wont be well formed until at least next season?

On the bright side the Migot spur is said to be in which is also on my list.

Cheers
