If using feet (and we all have to, sometimes) then it needs to be a very gentle, even increase in force along the line of the peg - and stop if any deviation; done by flexing the foot and straightening slowly. Twiddle the advancing peg between rocks as best as possible - it's never going to go through them.
Rocks above the ground are your friends, below the ground not so much.
I know MSR do a "tent peg hammer" with a bottle opener on... presumably for the American trailer tent market lugging Yeti coolers of beer on the back of the Ute / more money than sense crew. Looks cool though. And only 312g!
