Got a couple of Grivel walking axes (G1 and Munro) and they both have the same head - with a small (10mm?) hole and longer slot
I can't get the leash to larks head through the hole (why is it so small?) but can larks head through the slot - is that how you are supposed to do it?
I'm not certain what they were designed for but the hole can be used to clip them to a carry-tool and the slot takes a more traditional non-larks-footed leash (so you just post a single end of sling through and tie it back on itself). It looks like the Grivel walking leashes (https://cdn.shortpixel.ai/spai2/q_lossy+ret_img+to_auto/seikk.co.uk/wp-cont...) are a type where you can just post the single end through also.
thanks for that, both my axes have the long slot in your second photo
And I just push a loop of leash tape through the slot to allow me to create a larks head, no messing with buckles
It is snug to get through but works. It then puts the tape in the way of your hands when you carry it (unless you have little hands) - but if that is how it is designed to be used thats good to hear
My Tech Wings came with the leashes through the small letter box slox (Paul's first photo) I would think the longer slot (2nd photo) maybe just a weight saving design rather than for attaching anything!?
