I purchased a set of Grivel Panpipes about a year ago and have used them on two trips to Norway.

As they're sold, they are pretty useless. The two securing straps do not stay secure due to ineffective ladderlock buckles. The pipes are far longer than they need to be and therefore tend to get in the way when lifting legs. Lastly, the internal diameter on the pipes is too small, meaning that it is difficult to extract screws.

I emailed Grivel with these concerns. They took months to answer, and more months to neither accept my complaints nor offer any help in remedying them.

I have managed to fix the issues myself. This has taken a fair bit of time and additional materials, but I now have a set of functioning and effective Panpipes.

Please feel free to contact me for advice on how I fixed them.

I've just discovered that they are not now being sold by most places. Absolute Snow do have some at £20, which is a bargain if you're prepared to modify them.
