Weʼre raising £10,000 to help fund a power-assisted wheelchair for Paul Sagar.

Paul will be familiar to many throughout UKC, both for the articles he wrote and his posts on the forums, but in June 2023 he had a life changing accident.

He would of course hate us to say it, but his determination through rehab has been nothing short of incredible and he continues to make progress daily. Now that he is close to his discharge date from hospital, there is a lot of specialised equipment and support that he will need. The NHS provide a bulky manual wheelchair, but it has its limits, and so Paul has opted to put a deposit down on a lighter power-assisted wheelchair that will drastically increase his mobility and consequently, his independence.

These wheelchairs cost well over £10k and so this fundraiser is just to ask the many friends that Paul has for a contribution towards covering the cost. Again, this is not something that Paul has requested and so we would appreciate discretion on the matter, but further down the line we feel that this gesture will really help Paul with the challenges ahead.

It is going to be a long and difficult road physically and mentally but we hope that this contribution will help give him a boost!

I’d like to thank everyone who has donated generously to Paul’s JustGiving page.

I’d particularly like to thank Rob Greenwood for his help setting up the premier post in the first place. The money will be a real and immediate help to Paul and he is very touched and grateful.

Paul’s leaving the rehab facility soon and moving to a care home.

He dictates his thoughts, experiences and opinions and they are available on this link.

Many thanks for your help.
