We used to live in the cottage between the two halves of the Fountains Cafe. Mrs Ferguson who ran the cafe was our landlady. During the winter, when the cafe only opened on weekends, she would leave any unsold food from the cafe on our kitchen table. We would return from a weekend away climbing to find a pile of pies and cakes that would last us all week.
Alan Steele opened Inglesport at the same time, but unfortunately the Ingleton wall came a bit later. It would have been the perfect climber's house if in addition to a free source of pies, there had been a climbing wall ten paces from the back door.
