Beal indoor rope

Has anyone had any experience of using the Beal Karma rope? It'll be mainly for indoor use, and probably some occasional sport climbing.

I'm mainly interested in what the handling is like, and whether it turns into a twisted mess after every use...

Had a couple that I used for work. They’re ok. Decent value.

Put about a year of 1-2 sessions a week indoor and out on my Beal Karma and have recently replaced it with a 9.8 crag classic so I might be able to offer a bit of a comparison. Disclaimer: I haven't used tonnes of different/expensive ropes to compare with.

Yes, I found it got twisted a lot, but not significantly more than the Mammut. (lots of routes near me involve lowering over edges etc...)

I found it handled pretty well, I prefer the Mammut but again, not much in it.

I almost brought the Karma again but in the end the Mammut was on sale for a comparable price (worth checking their website).

I have a Karma that I've used indoors and for general single pitch cragging for the past couple of years, it's a good rope for the money but is prone to tangling.

Same as yhr posters above, I've used both Karma and Mammut and prefer Karma actually (disclaimer: got it for 34 pounds). Karma feels much softer to fall on, even though it twists slightly for some reason.

Yup, I've had a couple so far. It seems to handle fine and the durability is decent enough. I did wear the 70m through to the core but that's what my local very dusty crag and Kalymnos does to any rope eventually.

Thanks everyone. If I hadn't turned the voting buttons off you'd all have a 'like'!

I've got one of those, it's fine, no complaints.

Keep an eye out for deals, Go Outdoors do them for just over £1 per metre from time to time.

The karma is a great gym rope.  I got a 60m for £57 earlier in the year when Go O had them on sale, which I'll be chopping into two 30s once my existing rope gets retired.

It doesn't handle as well as my Mammuts but at the price it's pretty much ideal to thrash in the gym and replace frequently (mine last about a year, climbing three times a week).
