Hi All

I'm a massive fan of tufa climbing, preferably of the steep and 3D variety. Where are peoples favorite places to visit for this?

Places I've climbed that fit the style:

Leonidio & Kalymnos- Greece

Datca- Turkey

Chulilla- Spain

Terradets- Spain

Ton Sai- Thailand

Seynes- France (a bit old school- but one amazing route, Dinosaure (8a+))

Saint Legere (a couple of routes that sort of fit the bill over in the cave on the left)

Places I haven't climbed but might tick the box:

Manikia- Greece

Yangshuo- China

Cuba?

Rodellar- Spain

Millenium Cave- Sardinia

Thakhek- Laos (Sounds hot...)

Ramirole- Verdon/ France

Where have I missed? Any thoughts about the places on my haven't visited list?

Thanks!

Will

There is a cool crag in Turkey called Citdibi, quite a short drive from Geyikbayiri.

Conditions in Laos were much better than Tonsai - not as sticky and a lot less polished. I’m sure you’d love the cave.

Osp in Slovenia? The cave looked very fun. Way too hard for me but I enjoyed watching some guys projecting there.

I've never climbed there but I think Gorges du Loup is pretty 'tufa heavy'.

I'll add Citdibi to the list, looks good!

I've climbed at Babala, totally amazing,  would highly recommend

As it happens I  was at Cabazon d'Oro two days ago- last day of the trip and knackered but that big 7c looked amazing!

I'd love to get on Lourdes- that crag looks great. Cheers

Koh Lao Liang in Thailand is the most impressive and best quality tufa climbing I've experienced so far - absolutely enormous tufa stalactites that you climb onto off a beach and extend for 30m+ vertically up the crag, with plenty of quality routes in the 6's (and 7's by the looks of things but that's beyond me). A great vibe too on the island but possibly not hard enough for a climber of your talents Will

Another vote for the Geyikbayiri area in Turkey, it’s tufa heaven
