As above, I'm staying in Alnwick for work and hoping to squeeze in some trad. Corbys looks like the closest but how is it for leading being soft sandstone?

Cheers

There's some great routes at Corbys.

Sunshine Superman and Audacity pack in some powerful climbing for their short length. Tiger Feet and the easier Plonka are also worth doing.

As a crag it has suffered a bit over the years so make sure you go when it's had time to fully dry out. Some scrittle but that makes it all the more interesting. Take a rag.

Bowden is fairly close as well and probably better if you fancy soloing a few of the easier routes. Great for trad and bouldering.

I really liked Corby's. Possibly best crag day of our trip. The rock is really soft, but you'll figure that out immediately. There's enough good gear and solid holds that it's not scary or anything.

Audacity and Ranadon were cracking routes. I thought Sunshine superman and tiger feet were a bit meh in comparison, but still worth doing.

I asked similar questions before we went up there, but then came back to the thread with some outsider impressions later on. So this might help https://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/rock_talk/northumberland_recs-747869
