I know this has been done lots of times before and please feel free to post links to relevant threads or repeat yourself if it’s relevant. I have several camalots  kicking around that have been retired but not chucked out . I m confident that I would trust the tapes / slings . They range from original two wire ones to fairly modern single stem . All of them require sone kind of wire fix . I have a swaging kit but I think if I collect them all together I could justify buying another tool if required. I’ve tried using fishing wire in the past and also the actual kits from. BD . I’ve never been really happy with the results and have usually sucked up the cost of a new one .  What have you done that your were either happy or unhappy with ? Any links to you tube videos that are good or bad ?

Strimmer cord has worked just fine for me in the past. There was a very recent thread with a range of views.

Swaging tool, copper ferrules and stainless wire. Dead easy, I did a couple earlier this year.

For emergency repairs i carry some of those brass two screw cable joiners, just need a screwdriver (cut off the insulation before-time) to save carry a swaging kit.

I think these are them - https://www.diy.com/departments/12-way-3a-plastic-white-earth-terminal-bloc...

Just to expand on this, I'd advise trying to keep the solid metal bit which goes into the lobes intact if doing Camalots. It's ribbed at the end so imagine works a lot better at holding a ferrule/wire than a smooth bit of metal. I know some people chop it all out and add a new bit of metal (e.g. paperclip) but this is a weaker repair IMO.

You can cut the old copper ferrules off reasonably easily. I imagine a Dremmel would make life really easy but I don't have one and got on fine just using a good pair of wire-cutters to chomp away at the soft copper until it fell off.

Here are a couple I did earlier this year. Probably been placed 100 times since and no signs of failing.

Bought the materials from TECNI. 1.25mm stainless steel cable and 1.5 copper ferrules.

This is my swage tool:

I use gear or brake cable offcuts to replace the cable, as above I keep the original wire if it's not damaged.

Memory wire is great for Aliens. I imagine it would be ok as a quick repair on other cams too, and it's very cheap.
