Repairing a tent - the glue has failed. Worth it?

I have a nice Alpkit tent that was a great and well used piece of kit for some years. It sat in the loft for quite a long time (we had more kids!) and when I took it out, I think because of the big fluctuations in temperature up there, the seems have all failed.

It’s a pretty big job to fix - and needs to be done by a pro. Has anyone had something similar done. Is it worth it? Or should I just buy a new tent????

seems such a shame to chuck it away. Anywhere that recycles such things?

Don't chuck it away - there's enough in landfill already.

If the seams are leaking try GearAid seam sealant. I used 2 tubes on a large tent recently but you might only need one. For £12.99 it's worth a shot.

Also Alpkit shops will fix outdoor gear for a price - it could be worth looking at that too

If it's just the tape on the seams it certainly isn't a big job and doesn't need a professional. An hour or 2 on a sunny day with some seam sealant is all you need

Get on the Youtube and look for a vid to see how easy resealing the seams is. I brought my Quasar back to life after years of use and now it's storm proof again. Plenty more years left in it. Theres a few brands but make sure you get the right type of sealer, there are sealer for silicone treated tents on non sil tents. It took me a moment to work out which one but so worth it.

Thanks everybody for your replies. Definitely time to buy some sealant then!

Happy I can make it come alive again.
