We have a Canadian friend stopping over on his way to a speed climbing competition in Russia. Where would be a good wall  to take him to. He’s based in central London whilst he’ s here, any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't think London Wall (E5 6a) is much good for speed climbing.

Try and make him see the light.

Much as we'd prefer a trip to Millstone,  a trip to The Mall (VS 4c) is more in my reach!  I think he's looking for training not fun!

In reply to SuePearson:

boring (sensible answer) you need a wall with a speed autobelay.

Sue,  I am not sure of requirements for speed climbing training but The Reach in Woolwich has lots of high routes in differerent styles, (vertical, slabby, thuggy overhangs etc) is not crowded and has several auto belays (10-12?).

In reply to Slarti B: slightly over hanging, buggy, dynamic.

Having belayed a speed competition most autobelays won't hack it. 2 belayers on  a Grigri, one to pull down , one to pull through

Thanks I know it needs a special autobelay I've seen it briefly at our local wall but they normally don't have them. We'll just go for normal wall climbing -thanks
