Ive bought a Gripmaster and found this site,

http://www.bodytrends.com/exercise_instructions/gripmaster_RSG4.asp

But can anyone suggest which exercises to do specific to climbing and how many reps and sets of each please.

Hope everyone had a good crimbo etc. etc.

Hook position and trigger pinch. What you really want is one of these:

There's even a Captains of Crush song!

In reply to galpinos: The grippers are amazing and up to the number 2 and that song is perhaps the best thing ever written! So comedy, thanks for brightening my day.

I've had some cheap grippers for years and use them now and the...but don't really feel they do much ... at the time I can feel my forearms egtting a little pumped and my hand grip aching... but are they a waste of time???

mmm..continuing the gripper thread...

I bought a "Captains of Crush" gripper - the sport 80 lb one. It feels no stronger than the £3.99 a pair grippers I got in Asda a few months back...

I'd recommend that anyone who already does a little climbing and is reasonably fit (I'm not muscle guy) should go for the next one up, the 100lb trainer, or even further... I think I'll be reselling mine on ebay VERY soon and moving up the scale.

I'm just about to buy a gripmaster pro 11lbs, as I struggle to open a jar of branston pickle, never mind grip small holds. What's the verdict? Is it worth £15 or will it just make me good a using a gripmaster?

In reply to philkerswell: i've just got some heavy grips (half the price of CoC) ranging from 100 to 300 and a female friend of mine couldn't close the 100 with two hands but my non-climbing but reasonably active house mate can bang out 20 reps, he finds the 150 difficult tho. i find the 200 is hard but closeable once warmed up. can't comment on anything above that yet as i am waiting to be able to do 10 reps on the 200 before moving on to the stronger ones.

i personally think that a strong climber would be able to start around the 150 - 200 mark and wouldn't recommend anything below that.
