What Is Unicore?

Ropes featuring UNICORE bind the sheath to the core without affecting the ease of use and suppleness of the rope, even under the most adverse conditions sheath slippage is reduced or totally eliminated, especially in such instances as top roping or active belaying. Should the sheath be cut or torn on a rope featuring UNICORE the sheath and core will remain bonded together, markedly enhancing safety in some situations such as rock fall or rope damage over a sharp edge.

With the UNICORE process:

  • Sheath slippage is eliminated
  • Allows safe escape should the sheath be cut
  • Makes rope cutting easy with a simple blade without any heating
  • Reduction of shrinkage in water by more than 50 %
  • Beal ropes are also available with Dry Cover and Golden Dry treatments to reduce water absorption in wet conditions

Unicore Explained

Beal has added more ropes to its UNICORE line. From a diameter of 8.6mm and up to 10.5mm, there is now a UNICORE rope for every type of climbing.

Single Ropes Featuring UNICORE

Joker 9.1 - The JOKER, at one and the same time a single, double, and twin rope, is now UNICORE and will delight the most experienced climbers and alpinists seeking lightness, easy running and security, and at the same time the traditionalists looking for a multi-purpose rope for ridge climbs, or other classic, mixed or snow routes.
Stinger 9.4 - Designed for high-level climbers, this is a single rope preferred for very hard routes.
Tiger 10mm - Multipurpose and ideal as an introductory rope for those starting to use thin ropes.
Top Gun II 10.5 - A low impact force and a high rating for number of falls. Ideal for working sport routes.
Diablo 9.8 - Fluid running to perform even better when pulling slack and clipping than 'classic' ropes of smaller diameter and lower weight.
Diablo 10.2 - Fluid running with a wider diameter to provide reassurance, a slick sheath and supple handling give the sensation of using a much thinner rope.
Wall Master VI 10.5 - Specifically developed for indoor and centre use. Great handling with a thick sheath for greater resistance to abrasion.

Half Ropes Featuring UNICORE

Ice Line 8.1 - A must have rope for ice climbers and expert alpinists alike for its extreme fluidity and very low impact force.
Cobra 8.6 - A classic for adventure climbing. Light and free-running for ease of use on long routes, on the crag and in the mountains.
Gully 7.3 - At 36 g per metre, the GULLY 7.3 is the lightest double rope on the market ideal for ice climbing, mountaineering and the most demanding terrain.

In this competition you have the opportunity to win your choice of 2 half ropes or your choice of a single rope from Beal's available UK range in 50m length.

Still doesn't appear to be working. Tried it on both IE and chrome
Sorry, I forgot to add the comp to the sub-domain for old versions of Internet Explorer (less that version 9). You shouldn't have had any problem in Chrome though. Does pressing F5 not fix it?

worked on chrome at about 10am today.
