It's hard to believe that it has been ten years since CAC founder John Ellison set out his vision to bring together the extended family of the climbing world to raise awareness and funds to further research into finally finding a cure for cancer!
Proud achievement
John would have been very proud of what has been achieved since, with more than half a million pounds donated to cancer research across 14 different countries around the globe, and the distinctive bright CAC T-shirt is now a universally recognised badge throughout the climbing world.
Future ambitions
In celebrating our 10th anniversary, the CAC Trustees are looking back but also to the future, with ambitions to double our fundraising and reach the wider climbing community and beyond, remembering one of John's favourite sayings: 'In life, we are all climbers'.
In 2023 we are setting out to make ten donations of £10,000, with at least one on each continent, as we continue John's vision for a global impact against this disease which affects so many around the world. To achieve this ambition, we are calling on the global climbing community to continue the generous support it has shown over the last decade.
How to help
Individuals can support in many ways. For example, by buying some of our unique, colourful CAC merchandise at the CAC online store! A special limited edition 10 year Anniversary t-shirt is now available to order, in ladies, men's or youths' sizes.
Fundraisers can also be organised, perhaps on the theme of 10 to help mark the 10th anniversary (10 Munroes bagged, or miles hiked...). Some details and inspiration are available here: Sponsorship Pack.
And of course, donations are possible (perhaps a 'tenner' for our tenth birthday). Donations can be made here or people can text '10forCAC' to 70085 from the UK (Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message).
We are also reaching out to the broader climbing community to extend our network, and work even more closely with our valued CAC Sponsors, partners & supporters and CAC affiliated climbing walls as well as building a new collaboration of CAC Clubs [more information to come]. To help with our Push for the Summit we'll also be reinforcing our elite global team of CAC Athlete Ambassadors.
We would invite anyone who would like to explore with us how they can play a part to get in touch with us!
If you would like to hear more, or if we can answer any questions, please get in touch at
hello@climbersagainstcancer.org and hopefully we can look forward to the community's continued involvement as we celebrate CAC's 10th Birthday and push onwards and upwards.
Many thanks – The Climbers Against Cancer Trustees

Half a million pounds is a fantastic testament to the generosity of the global climbing community, but we need every penny! Buy a T-shirt, send a donation or organise a fund-raiser, and help Climbers Against Cancer make 10 donations of £10k this year.
If you haven't already got your hands on the limited edition 10th Anniversary T-shirt you'd better get a move on - they're going fast!

Huge thanks to Tom and Pete!
Clearly A CAC-T helps your climbing, and even if it doesn't then every penny goes to fund cancer research. What's not to like? https://www.climbersagainstcancer.org/shop/10-year-anniversary-t-shirt-mens/
