Plymouth is one the sites of which we are most proud. Apart from its 16 metre walls and one of the best bouldering facilities in the area, the climbing wall at the Plymouth Life Centre has a community and an atmosphere like few others.

From our regularly top quality route setting to our Performance Pathway (which delivers coaching in a format open to, and designed for, climbers at all levels) and from the friendly welcome to our monthly food nights, the team have put a huge amount of effort into making this not only a great place to climb, but simply a great place to be.

However, this is by no means all our Plymouth Centre is about. With a strong Junior Squad, great relationships with local schools and colleges plus a growing Junior program the future is bright for the grass roots of climbing in the South West. We intend to use climbing’s Olympic status to it’s maximum effect and get as many young people excited about climbing as possible over the next 3 years.

We believe Everyone Can Climb, which makes our sessions as diverse as the people attending them. As well as fast paced, high energy sessions like birthday parties and taster sessions we deliver low ratio private introductions to rock climbing, developmental sessions for young people, pupil referral units and schools as well as sessions for climbers with additional needs (including paraclimbing).

Taking overall responsibility for the financial performance of the centre, as well as the quality and safety of climbing delivered in the centre you will work closely with a member of the Business Management team to continuously improve the performance of the centre and how we offer climbing.

In order to be successful in this role you will need to become a key member of this thriving community, so it goes without saying that you’ll need to be a dedicated and active climber. Previous experience of managing a climbing wall would be advantageous, but is by no means essential. We believe in giving the right person the skills they need to fulfil a role, rather than trying to mould the wrong person who has the right skills. If you think you’d be great at this role, or just want to find out a little more, then please get in touch.

The details:
• For the right candidate this will be a permanent full time position with a schedule mainly spread across afternoons, evenings and alternate weekends averaging 40 hours per week.
• Competitive salary, dependent upon experience
• Flexible working available – could include 1 or 2 months off per year to pursue personal projects
• Closing Date for Applications – Sunday the 5th of February 2017.
