Mammut are pleased to announce that Sheffield based climber Madeleine Cope has joined the UK athlete team.
Maddy is a 26 year old climber currently living in Sheffield. She was first introduced to climbing 9 years ago, starting out and learning her trade on the sea cliffs around the UK as well as out in Chamonix.
In more recent years Maddy has started to get into sport climbing more, with Malham being one of her favourite destinations. One of her biggest passions however is for big wall climbing which led her to climbing Freerider on El Cap in Yosemite last autumn.
"I’m really looking forward to working with Mammut. They are a huge brand worldwide, the people are incredibly friendly and their products are well known for being the best in the business.I very much enjoyed climbing in Yosemite last autumn. Climbing Freerider on El Cap was an amazing experience. The style of climbing is so different to here in the UK, you have to adapt and be willing to learn, but the hard work really pays off. It has definitely planted the seed for more big-wall trips in the future.
At the moment I am focusing on sport climbing in the UK, mainly going to Malham (in my opinion the best sport crag we have!). When the summer comes I plan to spend lots of time sunning myself on sea cliffs.”
Mammut UK director Neil Bradley had this time say about Maddy’s recent arrival:
“Everyone at Mammut is incredibly excited to have Maddy on board and we are looking forward to supporting her climbing and some of the fantastic trips that she has lined up in the future.
We have a small but incredibly talented team of athletes here in the UK and Maddy is going to fit right in with everything that Mammut stands for and wants to achieve.”
