Rockfax Description
The left-hand crack is short and 'ard. Maybe the same grade as Toy, but sees a lot less attention. Gaining the narrower upper section is especially difficult. If successful it is eyes right! © Rockfax

βeta: A 'proper' route. There's a trick to gain the upper section which once you've worked it out makes it quite easy, but will you find it before you become exhausted? Quite pumpy all the way, but you're left with a great feeling of satisfaction when you get to the top.

Very knacky but with two fist jams in at the top of the offwidth section and using some more foot holds out of the crack managed it clean eventually. Bit wet at the fist jam section at the top of the narrowing offwidth too despite a few days of dry weather and being very windy. Maybe stays wet all winter?

Misha 7 Oct, 2018 Lead O/S A battle! Up to half height is ok though not straightforward. Placed a high cam 5 but couldn’t figure out how to make further progress. Had RH on a crimp and LH in the crevice, facing R. Beta seems to be to get RH in and face L from that point but I didn’t think of that. Instead I reversed to the hand jam rest (that flake in the crevice definitely moves but ok to jam on) before cranking up crimps and a side pull on the L face. Quite tricky to get back across into the crack when the crimps run out! Once reestablished in the crack, the rest was fine. Felt more like E3/4 done that way, especially as I hung around a lot figuring it out (haven’t quite lost all my stamina yet). Two cam 2s, a 3, a 5 (or two 5s but easy enough to move it) and something in the purple to red range for the narrow crack at the top. Mega thread and a cam 4 to belay. Though not sure why I’m noting gear beta as this isn’t high on my list of routes to repeat!

Gear wise it would have been a lot safer with a bigger cam or two, my grade depends on gear available. i actually moved my one decent size cam mid climb. Technique-wise i didn't jam my legs well. Given it's called 'eliminate' does that mean i shouldn't be using the holds on the face? i did use them for feet in a few places. One of the most 'enjoyable' routes i've done. First offwidth

disturbed_one51 23 Nov, 2013 Lead Great fun as the crack was sopping wet and green. The face holds help greatly. I was stupid enough to try to put a size 6 in the upper crack and got it thoroughly stuck on the lip and it made it a bugger to get over as it was right where my knee needed to be. It is a good leveller.
