Rockfax Description
A fine route up the long flake/corner towards the right-hand side of the wall. Big cams help along the way or just attack the bold layback with gusto. © Rockfax

FA. Harry Smith, Hugh Banner 1961. Climbed free at a time when most were still using aid points on limestone.

βeta: A good fun route. One of the easiest ways to get to the top of the tor. I found birds nesting at about 20m.

Richardlake 22 Apr, 2018 Lead O/S Need duplicates of large cams to make this feel more like VS. A biggish run-out at the crux, a terrible first "pitch" up grassy mud slopes / crumbling ledges and poor rock towards the top made this feel a little spooky, and quite hard.

Luke90 8 Oct, 2017 Lead O/S Good route and in good condition, apart from the "scramble" up to the starting ledge which was a nightmare. All the holds and ledges were covered in loose earth which made the whole thing rather sketchy. Glad to have roped up for it!

kermit_uk 2 Sep, 2017 2nd O/S I solod up to the ledge (probably the scariest part of the day!) then Michelle led main pitch. Crackin climb well worth a handful of stars I thought and tough at the grade.

djones66 22 Jun, 2017 Lead O/S A very 'mixed bag'. The main section is really good but the starting 'scramble' is truly horrendous (thanks Steve for leading this bit and then belaying at the start of the 'proper climbing'). No more than 1 star, for me, even though the layback section is marvellous.

Hoyes 30 Apr, 2017 2nd O/S Enjoyable route. Layback section has decent foot holds. Well protected throughout. Don't need anything bigger than a size three BD camalot.
