Rockfax Description
Not the beast you might expect. Swing over the roof to access the left-hand side of the slab and climb it more easily to the break. Continue up the left-hand side of the buttress above keeping just right of the arete. © Rockfax

βeta: Really enjoyed this route. Fun start, easy slab (ok no gear but if you can lead HVS as it gets in the guide then it shouldn't be a problem) and a lovely (and harder than I expected) finish up the arete. Middling HVS?

βeta: Seconded this. Felt more like 5a than 4c. Why has the HVS 5a grade in the book been downgraded?

βeta: Extremely scary if the crack to the left of the slab is not used - anyone know if it's supposed to be in the route? . 5a over the lip at (ignoring crack on L) and then 25 ft of *completely* gearless padding (4b/c?). Final arete is highly entertaining but gear for the final tricky move (Friend 1) is placed blind (and I'm 6ft). Exceptional value at VS!

timrooker 29 Apr, 2017 Lead O/S super gritty on the slab with definite deck out potential if a foot slips... would agree with rockfax's hvs at least unless it gets some traffic!

markblair 26 May, 2012 Lead O/S Tricky bouldery start and no gear until about two thirds of the way up. Following the route in the book straight up the top buttress this is much harder than 4c! 5a in the guide and I agree.
