pheotleyr 11 Apr, 2014 TR O/S After failed (due to route-finding) ground-up attempts on both pitch 1 and 3 some time ago, I tried to figure out where this route goes from the safety of a top-rope today. Still don't know. Pitch 1: Starting corner and swing left are obvious. I reached the belay of Nightcap directly after swinging left, but that involved a couple of (good) seemingly 5a slab moves with good gear at your feet to start (getting lower as you go up) and with a ledge to hit. E1 5a at least? Pitch 2: A nice and exposed romp with some reasonable gear. With a traverse back leftwards this would give a better alternative second pitch to Nightcap. Pitch 3: I think I climbed the right line, but again the traverse here seemed to be hard for 4c with no gear and high enough above the ledge to not want to come off it - also E1 at least?

pheotleyr 8 Jun, 2013 Lead dnf Traversed in to the Ffoeg's Folly belay from the right (on the 299 with a conservatory 1st pitch variation) and wanted to continue Tin Drum to the top. Didn't quite find the way to the Nightcap spike belay by any means other than actually climbing Nightcap (which I didn't do), so ended up not really climbing this...
