Rockfax Description
Excellent and continuously interesting climbing following the line of least resistance up the smooth slab left of Cape York Crack. © Rockfax

UKC Logbook Description
A superb route weaving a line of least resistance up the smooth slab L of Cape York Crack. The best route on the Cape York Level: a must do and well worth the walk up.

Climb a smooth, technical groove 2 m L of Cape York Crack to a slab. Step L to a thin break and tiptoe along it to the L arete. Climb this to the upper slab stride R and up to Cape York traverse. Continue directly up through the upper bulges to the Cape York Crack Lower off. Excellent and continuously interesting.

harold walmsley 15 Feb, 2015 2nd dnf Did all the hard climbing up to Cape York Traverse (pleased I could still manage the technical moves up the initial groove) but the final bulge was wet so bailed out there. In Feb the sun doesn't get round until about 14-00.

harold walmsley 14 Aug, 2014 Lead RP 1st ascent. Really good. Best new route I have done on slate. Recommend you try it. Best gained via the now-bolted first pitch of Cape York Slab, which is the best means of accessing the routes on the Cape York Level.

colin struthers ??, 2014 2nd Would definitely agree with Harold about the quality of this route - sustained and interesting all the way with the crux, for me, being the very technical lower groove
